Archbishop Curtiss and seminarians meet with Holy Father
On Thanksgiving morning Archbishop Elden Francis Curtiss (top photo) met privately with Pope John Paul II at the Vatican. They discussed the 26 years the pope has served the universal church as successor of Peter. They also discussed the church in Omaha, the recent Archdiocesan Synod, and our focus on the Eucharist for this year and on vocations to priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life. Prior to the private meeting Archbishop Curtiss had with the pope on Thanksgiving at the Vatican, the archbishop was able to introduce to the Holy Father the three Omaha seminarians studying at the North American College in Rome. They are shown (bottom picture) standing from left to right: Michael Vanek of Schuyler, Liam O'Mara of Lyons, and Andrew Roza of Omaha.
