Archbishop Lucas receives Patriot Award

Walt Zenk, second from left, state chairman of Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) and a retired major general, presents Archbishop George J. Lucas with the Patriot Award Feb. 11, recognizing his support of priests from the Archdiocese of Omaha who serve in the military as chaplains. ESGR is a Department of Defense organization that gains and maintains employer support for Guard and Reserve service by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the law, and resolving conflict through mediation. The archbishop was nominated by Father Dave Reeson, an Air Force chaplain currently serving in Germany. Also pictured, from left, are Jim Murphy, ESGR committee member and civilian aide to the secretary of the Army, Bob Cunningham, co-chair for the ESGR Omaha area and former mayor of Omaha, and Bill Ramsey, co-chair for the ESGR Omaha area.
