Empowering Adults Workshops Begin Aug.25

Empowering Adults workshops will be Saturday, Aug. 25, 8:30 a.m to 5:30 p.m., at St. Peter Claver Cristo Rey School, 36th and Q St., Omaha. Seven evening sessions are set to begin Monday, Aug. 27, 7-9 p.m. at the Archdiocesan Youth Camp and Retreat Center, 245th and Q St., Omaha. This training program for adult volunteers in all aspects of ministry with youth in grades 7-12 includes praying with youth, building community with youth, serving with youth, keys to successful youth programs, relating to youth and learning with youth. The cost of the one-day workshop is $30.

St. Peter Claver hosting campers

The presence of more than 100 students has transformed St. Peter Claver Cristo Rey Catholic High School in Omaha into a campsite.

Since Sunday, children have called the school home while working as members of Catholic HEART Workcamp. The organization based out of Orlando, Fla., is designed to offer a week of free labor to those in need while providing students with life-learning lessons.
