Archdiocese's oldest active priest dies

Msgr. Edgar Wortmann, the oldest active priest in the Archdiocese of Omaha, died Aug. 31 after collapsing during a funeral at Blessed Sacrament Church in Omaha. He was taken to Creighton University Medical Center, where he later died.

Archbishop Elden Francis Curtiss presided at the 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Curtis Ave. A second service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Holy Family (Ss. Peter and Paul) Church in Bow Valley.

Leonard, Mo.; five grandsons; granddaughter; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Dan Cook Vanwert, Iowa; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sherry Busick, Brookings, S.D.; nieces; nephews; friends. Memorials to National Kidney Foundation.
