St. Vincent de Paul Young Adult Christmas Party will be Dec. 8. Caroling at Parson's House at 4 p.m., followed by Mass at 5 p.m. "Ugly Christmas Sweater" party will follow at 1527 N. 123rd St. at 6:30 p.m. Dinner and drinks provided; bring dessert or Christmas treat to share. Advent Evening of Reflection with Dr. Susan Calef - Dec. 3

Advent Evening of Reflection with Dr. Susan Calef, a New Testament scholar from Creighton University, will be held Dec. 3, 7 p.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church's Hanneman Hall, Omaha. Dr. Calef will use stories from the Gospels to reflect on our present longings and what it means to wait in this season of Advent. Limited childcare available.

"Birthing Jesus in Our Lives", an Advent bilingual (English-Spanish) retreat - Dec. 1

"Birthing Jesus in Our Lives", an Advent bilingual (English-Spanish) retreat, is set for Dec. 1, 10 a.m. to noon at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 4510 S. 32nd St., Omaha. Roncalli Catholic High School's Elizabethan Christmasse Feaste - Dec. 8-9

Roncalli Catholic High School's Elizabethan Christmasse Feaste will be Dec. 8-9, 6 p.m. at the school, 6401 Sorensen Parkway, Omaha. Includes a three-course meal and entertainment by the Roncalli Catholic Madrigal Syngers, all in the style of an Elizabethan Feast. Cost is $15 for adults, $12 for students. Reservations required. Open house celebration of Holy Family Shrine - Dec. 15

Open house celebration of Holy Family Shrine will take place Dec. 15, noon to 4 p.m. at the shrine, located off Interstate 80, exit 432. Event marks fifth anniversary of shrine's dedication. Anniversary Mass set for Father Ryberg

In honor of his 50th anniversary as a priest, Father James Ryberg will celebrate a Mass Dec. 2 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2210 S. 32nd Ave., in Omaha.

The public is invited to attend the 1:30 p.m. Mass for the retired priest. A reception will follow.

Father Ryberg was born in Chicago in 1932 and attended Holy Name Grade School in Omaha. He studied for the priesthood at St. Columban's Minor and Major Seminaries in Bellevue before his ordination in 1957.
