Pope Benedict says it was 'joy' to witness faith of U.S. Catholics

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Thanking Americans for their hospitality, Pope Benedict XVI departed the United States amid a cheering crowd of 4,000 people who had come to see him off.

"It has been a joy for me to witness the faith and devotion of the Catholic community here," the pope said April 20 in brief remarks to those gathered in hangar 19 at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

"It was heartwarming to spend time with leaders and representatives of other Christian communities and other religions," he said.

All Rummel Reunion - June 6

All Rummel Reunion is set for June 6, 6:15 p.m. at Roncalli Catholic High School, Omaha. For all alumni of Omaha's former Archbishop Rummel High School from classes 1968 through 1977 and their spouses. Cost for dinner is $30. Alums can take part in a golf outing at Knoll's Golf Course starting at noon. Cost is $30 for 18 holes and a cart. RSVP for both events by May 16.

St. Gerald School's One-Mile "Walk of Pride" - April 26

St. Gerald School's One-Mile "Walk of Pride" is set for April 26, 10 a.m. around the school, 7857 Lakeview St., Ralston. A carnival for school and parish will follow with inflatables, a rock climbing wall and music. Sponsored by St. Gerald School's Home and School Association. Event is free.
