Catholic educators honored at dinner

The Archdiocese of Omaha honored eight educators at the 31st Annual Archbishop's Dinner for Education Sept. 25.

The event was attended by more than 700 people at the Embassy Suites in LaVista.

"Each year the dinner serves as a forum to recognize the sacrificial commitment of families and parish communities on behalf of our Catholic schools and the dedicated work of our teachers and administrators," said Archbishop Elden Francis Curtiss.

Conception reports record enrollment

Conception Seminary College in Conception, Mo., is reporting a record enrollment this school year, with 108 men on the path to priesthood.

With seven seminarians from the Archdiocese of Omaha - Matt Capadano, Mike Hansen, Ben Boyd, Matt Niggemeyer, Joe Sund, Patrick Burns and Francisco Franco - in this record class, Conception may very well be a bellwether of the times to come, ringing in the dawn of Pope John Paul II's "Springtime of the Church."

Adult Faith Enrichment "Apologetics" - Mondays through Nov. 17

Adult Faith Enrichment "Apologetics" will be Mondays through Nov. 17, 7-8:30 p.m. at St. Cecilia Institute, 3900 Webster St., Omaha. Father Michael Gutgsell will teach this course that examines the way and the interaction between process and history as it assists believers and skeptics to appreciate Catholic Christian profession of faith and the practices of the faith community.
