Performing for grandparents

Junior high students from Omaha's St. Cecilia School, from left, Abigail Justice, Anneliese Hennig, Lily Nunn and Hakam Shara perform in the school's annual operetta, "Krazy Kamp." The play, featuring students in grades 3 through 8, was presented March 12 and 13. The students welcomed grandparents to a special March 11 afternoon performance in honor of Grandparents Day. Archbishop honors Serrans of the year

Archbishop Elden Francis Curtiss, center, honored Serrans of the Year Muriel Munchrath and Dick Bene at the annual Serra Awards and Induction dinner Feb. 23 at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Omaha. Eighth graders raise awareness for refugees

Eighth-grade students from St. Pius X/St. Leo School in Omaha organized a special dress down day Feb. 20 to raise awareness and funds for refugees of Sudan.

The event raised $952. The Save Darfur Coalition received $100 for international efforts and Project Welcome received $852.

The students also welcomed Sister Joan Mueller, OSC, of Project Welcome, who talked to them about her program that aids local Sudanese refugees, most of whom are children.

Students remember soldiers at Mass

Students from St. John Neumann School in Clarkson held a special remembrance Mass during Catholic Schools Week for Nebraska service men and women who lost their lives during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

During the Mass, students honored each service member's name in a moment of silence. Crosses were made and letters were written and sent to each of the deceased's family in tribute of their loved one.
