St. Anthony to celebrate 125 years

Another archdiocesan parish will join the four parishes featured in the June 19 issue of the Catholic Voice in celebrating a milestone anniversary this year.

St. Anthony Parish in Cedar Rapids will mark 125 years at an 11 a.m. Mass July 26 with Archbishop Elden Francis Curtiss.

A dinner is planned after the Mass. St. Anthony prayer cards and parish history books also will be available.

Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) is recruiting volunteers to work at sites that serve people in need. A volunteer's skills and interest are matched to particular needs of a community organization. It offers the opportunity to work with the poor two days a week, to grow deeper in Christian faith through reflection and prayer in the Ignatian tradition, and to meet monthly with other IVC members and a spiritual guide. For men and women age 50 and older to share skills, talents and life experiences with organizations that directly assist people who are poor or address issues related to poverty.
