Nine in family share love of ministry to church

Serving God has always been a very important part of Mary Ann McMullin's life and it's something the Leigh woman has been passionate about sharing with others throughout her life - especially her children and grandchildren.

She has served as a lector and extraordinary minister of holy Communion (EMHC) for the past 25 years at St. Mary Church in Leigh and now, a total of eight other family members also serve.

"I tell them whatever you do for God, you will get back ten-fold," she said.

Parishes find new ways to celebrate the Advent season

Reaching out to fellow parishioners through prayer and gift offerings, parishes in the Archdiocese of Omaha are finding new and unique ways to celebrate Advent this year.

At St. Lawrence Parish in Silver Creek, Ss. Peter and Paul in Krakow and St. Rose of Lima Parish in Genoa, parishioners are being asked by Father Frank Jindra to reach out and welcome occasional Catholic members back to the church.
