Omaha nun granted parole

Notre Dame Sister Barbara Markey of Omaha was granted parole Jan. 21 after serving 18 months of a prison term for theft of funds from the Archdiocese of Omaha.

Sister Markey was sentenced to three to five years in July of 2008 after pleading guilty earlier that year to theft by deception of more than $1,500. She also was ordered to make restitution of $125,000.
