Holy Name school drive exceeds $300,000 goal

The campaign to help Holy Name School in Omaha pay off debt exceeded its goal in just three months.

The "Bigger Than Its Boundaries" campaign started Feb. 18 with the goal of $309,000 - the amount the school was in debt - and by June 15, the school, which threatened to close its doors at the end of the 2009-10 year because of financial troubles, had raised $315,741.

The decision to stay open for the 2010-2011 school year was made Feb. 25, but funds were still needed to help pay off the debt.

Group's goal is simple: 57 churches in 57 weeks

Excitement.

That's the vibe among the group of Omaha young adults embarking on a year-long project to visit 57 Catholic churches in the Omaha area and document their journey via blog - a project they've termed Mass Chaos.

"I have long said that I wanted to be a daily communicant, but actually getting up and going? Now, I have these people going to Mass with me and, well, I'm excited," said Eric Adamshick, Mass Chaos blogger.

The idea for the project came from a casual conversation outside St. Margaret Mary Church in Omaha last Holy Thursday.
