In just about six months, we will begin to use the new edition of the Roman Missal in English in our parishes and Catholic institutions. I have been sharing some pastoral reflections from time to time on this important moment in the life of our church. I want to continue those reflections here, considering in particular the changes in language that will be part of the new missal.

Eleven priests in archdiocese to exchange parishes as pastors

Eleven priests will move soon to new parishes as pastors and two will take the helm at their current posts, archdiocesan officials announced May 17.

Two priests with a combined 97 years of service to the church are retiring. Father Robert Preisinger, ordained in 1963, is stepping down as pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish in Fort Calhoun. Father Kenneth Vavrina will end his service as pastor of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish and senior associate pastor of St. Benedict the Moor Parish, both in Omaha. He was ordained in 1962.
