His Gift

The calm before the storm, so to speak, occurred seven days before Christmas.

One full week was plenty of time; for once in her life, Michelle felt in control. Even with working in an office full time and the stress of chairing a church committee, she felt calm and ready for the rapidly approaching Christmas holiday. Her shopping for her husband, Gary, her family, his family and assorted mutual friends was complete. Over 75 handwritten cards (many with letters) were now in the hands of the postal service. The pantry was filled to the brim with baking supplies.
