Archbishop Lucas posts notice of sainthood cause for Father Flanagan

With the posting of a notice inside the doors of St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha Feb. 27, the archdiocese began a process that could lead to the canonization of the founder of Boys Town.

Archbishop George J. Lucas placed the sign alerting the public that the cause is opening for Father Edward Flanagan, whose work with troubled youth in Omaha spread to a ministry that impacts people around the world.

Father Flanagan would be the first person declared a saint whose ministry was based in the Archdiocese of Omaha.
