Father Melvin Merwald's generosity, talent recalled

Father Melvin Merwald, pastor of St. Margaret Mary Parish in Omaha for 12 years and a former director of Catholic Charities of Omaha, died of a form of Parkinson's disease March 26. He was 66.

His funeral Mass was held March 29 at St. Margaret Mary Church in Omaha, and interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha.

Father Donald Shane, pastor of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Omaha, was the homilist.
