Archdiocese holds workshops for pastors, other leaders on 'Promise 2020' parish mergers

The Archdiocese of Omaha is helping pastors and parish leaders prepare for parish mergers in east Omaha.

An expert in such mergers - Mark Mogilka of the Diocese of Green Bay - came to Omaha Nov. 14 to meet for several hours with pastors, administrators and pastoral council members.

Mogilka compares the emotional challenges of a parish merger with the grief process after the loss of a loved one. Often people go through stages of denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
