Msgr. Brodersen remembered as kind, gentle and welcoming priest

Msgr. Charles Brodersen, a retired priest of the archdiocese who died June 21 at the age of 90, will be remembered as a kind, gentle and welcoming priest, said his longtime friend, Benedictine Abbot Raphael Walsh.

Pastoral, prayerful and helpful - he was an inspiration for fully living the priesthood, said the retired abbot, who gave the homily at Msgr. Brodersen's 11:15 a.m. funeral June 25 at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha.

A vigil service was held June 24 at the cathedral. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha.
