Silver Rose Mass - July 27

Silver Rose Mass: July 27, 10 a.m. at Holy Family Shrine, 23132 Pflug Road, Gretna. Celebrant is Father Mike Grewe. Mass will be for strength to restore a culture of life. Five silver roses, symbolizing the Knights of Columbus devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe and commitment to the sanctity of life, are journeying through North America and will converge in Texas before being placed in the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico Dec. 12. Archbishop Lucas urges Catholics: Don't be discouraged in battle for religious liberty

Catholics need not be discouraged or resentful as religious freedom is challenged in America because God, the source of truth and life, is with his people always.

Archbishop George J. Lucas delivered that message of hope to more than 400 people who gathered June 20 at the archdiocese's primary Fortnight for Freedom event at Christ the King Church in Omaha.
