Notre Dame Sister to celebrate 100th birthday

Notre Dame Sister Consolata Sonka - whose service included numerous assignments in archdiocesan schools - will celebrate her 100th birthday Nov. 19 with a card shower.

People are invited to send their greetings by Nov. 17.

Born in Minnesota, Sister Sonka completed high school and college in Omaha at the former Notre Dame Academy - which later merged with Archbishop Rummel High School to form Roncalli Catholic High School ¬- and the former Duschesne College.

She taught high school and grade school in Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota.

Our Lady of Fatima statue has more than 20 stops in Archdiocese of Omaha

A statue based on the Our Lady of Fatima statue at the Shrine of Fatima in Portugal is on tour through Nov. 24 in the Archdiocese of Omaha.

People who wish to close out the Year of Faith, which also ends Nov. 24, by praying and seeking Mary's intervention in a special way can do so by venerating the statue at one of the following stops:
