Archbishop George J. Lucas will preside at a noon Mass April 4 at Creighton University's St. John Church in Omaha honoring Blessed Pope John XXIII, who opened the Second Vatican Council and will be declared a saint April 27.
The Mass is part of a free, April 3-4 conference on Vatican II at the university titled "Legacy of Vatican II: Year II.'" Three internationally known theologians will speak at the conference on the impact Vatican II has had in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Father James Ryberg - a priest with the Columban Fathers for 24 years and an archdiocesan priest for 32 years - died March 26 at Hospice House in Omaha. He was 81.
Services in Omaha included a 7 p.m. vigil service March 28 at Heafey-Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler West Center Chapel, funeral Mass 1 p.m. March 29 at St. Robert Bellarmine Church and burial at Calvary Cemetery.
Archbishop George J. Lucas was the main celebrant at the Mass, and Columban Father Charles O'Rourke was the homilist.
