Members of Mercy High School’s Show Choir in Omaha helped 65 elementary students learn music and choreography at a Nov. 1 dance camp.
Choir members helped students in fourth- through eighth-grade learn the music and dance steps for three routines. Later that day, the younger students performed a show for their parents.
Girls Scout Troop No. 43706 and several other student volunteers at St. James/Seton School in Omaha recently filled 210 gift bags with candy and attached thank-you cards for military veterans.
The gift bags will be delivered during Thanksgiving week to the Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center, VA nursing home and several senior citizen centers in the Omaha area.

The ACLU of Nebraska (American Civil Liberties Union) has filed another federal lawsuit against Nebraska’s constitutional prohibition on same-sex “marriage.” The constitutional amendment was approved by an overwhelming majority of Nebraska voters in 2000.
It’s a good time and opportunity to share some lingering observations and nagging thoughts about the recent election, which provides another chapter in Nebraska history.
