The Junior Board of Catholic Charities sponsored its eighth annual Hoops for Hope fundraiser Dec. 9 at the Old Mattress Factory in Omaha, raising more than $11,000 for the agency.
Students at St. Bernadette School and Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School, both in Bellevue, recently teamed up to babysit for parents who used the time to go Christmas shopping or run other errands for their families.
Sixth-grade students at St. Bernard School in Omaha held a chili cook-off Dec. 6 to help the family of classmate Kaleb Olds, whose mother, Traci, is battling breast cancer and whose father, Jeff, had spinal surgery, putting him out of work since February.
Students at Cedar Catholic Junior/Senior High School and Holy Trinity School, both in Hartington, donated dozens of dolls, miniature cars and trucks, card games, basketballs and other toys to the needy for Christmas.
Students at Mercy High School in Omaha recently undertook a special project for the Jubilee of Mercy.
