Allowing God to do his work

I have a small stone plaque, a gift from my mom, nestled next to the coffee maker on our kitchen counter that reads: "Good morning! This is God. I will be handling all your problems today. So have a good day. I love you." It is a sweet morning reminder of my mom and of God’s loving promise to us.

Celebrating, speaking out

Children from St. Peter Parish in Clarks ride on a float Sept. 10 during a parade celebrating the 150th anniversary of the town’s founding. The float includes a church pew and kneeler and a large cross bearing posters that urge voters Nov. 8 to retain Nebraska’s repeal of the death penalty. More than 600 people turned out for the parade.

St. Teresa of Kolkata

Kelsey Rudloff, a first-grader at St. Pius X/St. Leo School in Omaha, places her picture of Mother Teresa with similar artwork made by her classmates in the days before the nun’s Sept. 4 canonization. The first-grade class watched a video about Mother Teresa’s work and then filled the hallway with their artwork.
