Archbishop blesses St. Cecilia choir before its pilgrimage to Rome

It was a special day, anticipating a special journey for the St. Cecilia Choir.

Archbishop George J. Lucas blessed choir members during a Nov. 6 Mass at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha as they prepare for a pilgrimage to Rome to participate in the Nov. 20 closing Mass of the Year of Mercy with Pope Francis.

VECCHIO-Salvatore “Snuffy”

VECCHIO-Salvatore “Snuffy,” 90. Funeral service Nov. 7 at the funeral home. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Preceded in death by wife, Arlene; grandson, Joey Vecchio; parents, Filadelfo and Lucia Vecchio; brothers, Charlie and Sebastino (Ordy) Vecchio; sisters, Tina Meehan and Dolly Signorile.

Deacon Johnson served 37 years

Deacon Donald Johnson, who served in the archdiocese for 37 years, died Nov. 3. He was 88.

A visitation and vigil service were held Nov. 6 at St. Thomas More Church in Omaha.

A funeral Mass was held Nov. 7 at St. Thomas More Church, and interment with military honors was held at St. John Cemetery in Bellevue.
