Religious sister starts boys basketball team

She entered religious life thinking skills she’d learned on the soccer field, and volleyball, basketball and tennis courts would have to stay on the sidelines.
Then came the boys and girls of St. Michael School in South Sioux City, praying and hoping they would be granted a basketball and volleyball coach.

FOCUS event spurs evangelization efforts

About 30 priests, deacons, lay people and archdiocesan staff spent five days in Chicago earlier this month, tapping into an evangelization program that has brought thousands of college students closer to Christ and equipped them to be evangelists.

Salvadoran woman finds U.S. safe haven

Belinda, a native of El Salvador, lights up a room with her smile – until she recounts her fear of violent gangs in San Salvador, fleeing to escape them and spending months in jail in the United States.
Then her sparkling eyes cloud over, her face falls and tears flow freely.

A religion teacher’s gift

God has seen fit to save me through my wife and my children, but also through my students.

As a husband and father, I share the grace of many who have the privilege of those roles. But as a religion teacher in a Catholic high school, I have been blessed as few will ever be.
