Priest to be honored for immigration work

A retired priest of the archdiocese, Father William Fitzgerald, will be recognized March 3 in Phoenix for his work with an Arizona-based effort to promote just, workable migration between the United States and Mexico.

Prayer rally for marriage

A prayer rally to support traditional marriage will be held at noon March 17 on the northeast corner of 76th and Dodge streets in Omaha.

It will be one of more than 2,000 rallies around the country organized by America Needs Fatima in defense of God’s plan for marriage.

Second-graders exceed charitable goal

The goal was $300 for the Parkinson’s Foundation, in part to honor St. John Paul II’s battle with the disease.

But the 17 second-graders at St. Francis School in Humphrey nearly tripled that goal, raising more than $876 after getting sponsors to pledge money for each word they spelled correctly in a recent Spell-A-Thon.

Trivia night proves popular

More than 200 people turned out for V.J. and Angela Skutt Catholic High School’s Trivia Night, uniting graduates, faculty, staff and parents at the Omaha school.

Table themes included “The Price is Right,” Olympians and Pink Ladies. Teams were challenged by questions about Omaha, music, science, history and geography.
