Fifth-graders Elizabeth Buescher, left, Reagan Brekel, Lucas Post and Anna Elizalde of Our Lady of Lourdes School in Omaha view a map showing the route taken by explorers Lewis and Clark during their historic trip across the Louisiana Purchase. The map, along with other props, artifacts and food items, highlighted a social studies program March 7 by Doug Friedl from the Missouri River Basin Lewis and Clark Visitor Center in Nebraska City.

Students at St. Patrick School in Elkhorn display some of the more than 2,500 boxes of breakfast cereal the school collected for an Omaha homeless shelter Feb. 19 to March 2. The largest cereal drive ever for the Open Door Mission, it was driven by many students donating the suggested two boxes, but others bringing up to 100 boxes.
