This year’s Nebraska Knights of Columbus Family of the Year and Knight of the Year are from councils in the Archdiocese of Omaha.
Honored for their support of Columban Council 6192 in Bellevue, their parish and community are Deacon Ted and Cindy Menzel of St. Mary Parish, also in Bellevue, their three children, a son-in-law and daughter-in-law.

Four eighth-graders of Polish descent in the archdiocese each won a $1,000 scholarship to a Catholic high school for their essays about a Polish Catholic ancestor.
The Polish Heritage Society of Nebraska awarded the annual St. John Paul II scholarships May 6 during a ceremony at the Polish Home Omaha.

Jesuit Father John Montag will celebrate 25 years as a priest with a Mass at the parish where he grew up, St. Adalbert Church in Omaha.
Now part of Our Lady of Lourdes-St. Adalbert Parish, the church will be the site for a 9:30 a.m. June 11 Mass and reception.

The Holy Name Parish Men’s Club hopes to raise $5 million to “Restore the Glory” to the parish’s field house, which hosted its first high school basketball game 68 years ago and is falling into disrepair.

The theme “60 Years: Proud of Our Past, Focused on Our Future” highlighted St. Joan of Arc Parish’s bi-annual development dinner April 14.
More than 250 people helped raise more than $45,000 at the dinner, raffle and auctions, for needs at the Omaha parish and school as it celebrates its 60th anniversary.

Bake sales, dress down days and special collections helped students at 12 Catholic high schools raise more than $5,000 for Project Rachel, a healing ministry for women and men wounded spiritually and emotionally by abortion.
The check was presented in Omaha to Archbishop George J. Lucas April 17.

Eight bake sales at Pope John XXIII Central Catholic High School in Elgin brought in $1,000 for the archdiocese’s seminarian education fund.
The school’s 10 National Honor Society students made and sold the bakery items to students, faculty and staff.
