NCC grateful for legislative successes

As Tom Venzor looks back on the recently concluded 105th Legislature, he’s grateful lawmakers generally heeded the concerns of Nebraska’s Catholics.

Priest’s farm field prayers

For the last five years each spring and fall, Father Andrew Sohm has traveled the highways, two-lane and dirt roads to farms near his parishes, St. Peter in Newcastle and St. Joseph in Ponca. 
He is busy blessing farmers, seeds and the harvest.

Amy Miller, legal director of ACLU of Nebraska, and Matt Maly, operations coordinator for Nebraskans for Alternatives to the Death Penalty (NADP), will discuss current legal challenges to Nebraska’s death penalty. Use north entrance by flag pole. Vatican-approved exhibits on the Eucharist and Mary: May 26-June 3 in the gym at St. Isidore School, 3821 20th St., Columbus. Talks and adoration of the Eucharist related to the exhibits are May 27, 2 p.m., May 28, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., at St. Isidore Church, 3921 20th St., Columbus. Sponsors are St. Isidore, St. Bonaventure and St. Anthony parishes, Knights of Columbus and Knights Squires, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, That Man is You and Christians Encounter Christ.
