Harvest Festival marks celebratory month

A Churchyard Harvest Festival on Sept. 21 will help honor two holy men who inspired the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Omaha.

The festival is one of several events during September, which the charity designates as St. Vincent de Paul Awareness Month, celebrating feast days of its founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and its namesake, St. Vincent de Paul.

CUES fundraiser set for Oct. 11

CUES Young Professionals will offer an evening of music, food and beer Oct. 11 to benefit Sacred Heart, All Saints and Holy Name schools in Omaha. The group’s annual fundraiser, CUES-A-PALOOZA, will be 6:30-10:30 p.m. at Scriptown Brewing Company, 3922 Farnam St., in Omaha’s Blackstone area.

Catholic Answers Conference is Nov. 2

Spirit Catholic Radio in Omaha will present its Catholic Answers Conference 2019 Nov. 2 at the Embassy Suites La Vista Conference Center, 12520 Westport Parkway in La Vista, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Titled “Together on a Journey to Sainthood,” the conference will feature current and former Catholic Answers speakers Trent Horn, Tim Staples, Cy Kellett, Dr. Ray Guarendi and Matt Fradd.

Video contest runs through Oct. 14

Catholic school students are encouraged to think creatively about ways to serve their communities and explain those ideas on video.

This year’s contest, renamed “Shine a Light in the Community,” began Sept. 16 and runs through Oct. 14. It is open to all students in the 71 schools of the archdiocese.

March for Life registration underway

Registration is underway for the 2020 March for Life pilgrimage to Washington, D.C., Jan. 21-26.

Each year, high school students, along with clergy, religious and others from the archdiocese, join hundreds of thousands of pro-life supporters to march in support of the unborn. This year’s march, the 47th annual event, is set for Jan. 24.

Lucas blesses Marian High School students and staff, Servants of Mary sisters and guests attending a Sept. 17 dedication and blessing ceremony for the Omaha school’s recently completed addition and remodeling project. New or renovated facilities include the Haddix Academic Center, Servants of Mary Chapel, lobby, cafeteria and kitchen, classrooms and hallways.
