CSM to host Champions of Character breakfast, walk Oct. 6
College of Saint Mary (CSM) in Omaha will host the third-annual Champions of Character Breakfast and Champions Walk Oct. 6, on the CSM campus.
The breakfast, honoring Hall of Fame inductees Kathy "Tiger" Thielan and Jessica Jeseritz-Day, will be held at 8:30 a.m. at the Hixson-Lied Commons. Check-in for the walk will begin at 9 a.m., followed by the walk at 9:30 a.m. The 30-minute walk will begin and end at Hixson-Lied Commons. Both events are free and open to the public.
The Champions Walk serves dual purposes of promoting the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' Champions of Character program and raising money for CSM athletic programs.
"By participating in the Champions Walk, your support will help CSM empower the women of today to become tomorrow's leaders," said Kevin Lein, athletic director. "You'll also be supporting the NAIA's Champions of Character program, which emphasizes the five core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship through athletics."
Individuals and corporations can register for the walk by emailing Lein at firstname.lastname@example.org or at the check-in for the event. All participants who donate more than $10 will receive a t-shirt and all donations will receive a small prize.
In addition, all children of Champions Walk participants are invited to attend the CSM Champions of Character Kids Sports Clinic during the walk. The hour-long clinic begins at 9:30 a.m., and is run by CSM coaches and student athletes at the Lied Fitness Center.
