Freelance Opportunities at the Catholic Voice
Do you have a passion for sharing the Good News? Do you like seeing your finished work in print? Do you have a few hours every week or month to help others grow in their Catholic faith? If so, freelancing for the Catholic Voice may be for you!
The archdiocese’s biweekly publication is currently seeking part-time freelance reporters and photographers to help develop content. Successful candidates will attend archdiocesan and parish events, conduct interviews, and write articles and/or take photographs.
Reporters are expected to have strong writing and editing skills, including mastery of spelling, composition, grammar, punctuation and journalistic style. Photographers must understand the essentials of photography, including composition, exposure and lighting; possession of one’s own DSLR camera also is required.
Freelancers will work for the archdiocese as independent contractors, not as employees. These positions involve meeting strict deadlines and working closely with the Catholic Voice’s editorial staff. Possession of a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel by car within the archdiocese are musts. Compensation is competitive (click here for details) and previous journalistic experience is preferred.
Applicants should submit a letter of introduction, three samples of their written work and/or a link to their online photo portfolio, and completed questionnaire (click here for reporters and here for photographers) to Ms. Joan Karre, Senior Administrative Specialist, Catholic Voice at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for your interest in sharing your time and talent with the 48,000-plus readers of the Catholic Voice.
