Faithful citizenship conference scheduled
The ninth annual Faithful Citizen Conference will be held Nov. 10 at St. James Parish Center, 4710 N. 90th St., in Omaha.
Sponsored by the Omaha Archdiocese's Social Ministry Commission, the 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. event will feature a keynote address by Daniel Misleh, executive director of the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change and formerly of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' world peace and development department.
Misleh will speak on Catholic social teaching and environmental justice.
Breakout sessions include climate change and public policy; green resources from Scripture and recent Catholic social teaching; the Farm Bill and the environment; peak oil use and our fuel dependence; and reinventing daily life: the practice of ecological mindfulness.
