Confirmation students help needy children
About 15 confirmation students packed nearly 800 bags of food for needy children Oct. 18 as a service project at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Omaha.
Working at Food Bank for the Heartland in Omaha, the students filled each bag with one skim milk, one chocolate milk, one can of ravioli and one of lasagna, a fruit cup, two cereal boxes and a fruit leather. The food bank distributes the bags on Fridays to students in after-school programs, providing them with food for the weekend.
Eighty-two eighth-graders are in this year’s school and religious education confirmation class at St. Margaret Mary. The students are forming small groups for a variety of service projects as they prepare for the sacrament.
