Featuring keynote speaker Herman "Herm" Edwards, a former NFL player and coach, ESPN sports analyst and author, the event drew 500 people and raised $200,000 for scholarships to help low-income families send their children to private or parochial elementary schools.
Emma Vortherms, sixth-grader at St. Ludger School in Creighton, and three Omaha students – Aria Price, fifth-grader at St. Cecilia School, Chevonnie Reed, third-grader at Sacred Heart School, and Declan Fillmore, kindergartener at St. Pius/St. Leo School – were recognized for leadership, overcoming obstacles and fostering community.
Samantha Morford, a member of Holy Ghost Parish in Omaha, a CSF graduate and student at the University of Nebraska Omaha, received the Inspiring Alumnus Award for her perseverance through adversity, community service and personal and academic success.
Last academic year, CSF awarded a record $2.6 million in scholarships to nearly 1,800 kindergarten through eighth-grade students.
