Marian High School in Omaha honored four graduates and two teachers for their leadership and service to the school Sept. 7 at the Esprit de Corps Awards Banquet.

Shannan Neppl Brommer, a 1981 graduate and director of Stewardship and Development for the Archdiocese of Omaha, was named alumna of the year. Brommer also served 13 years as Marian’s advancement director and three years as the school’s alumnae director.

Another 1981 graduate, Susanne "Susie" Stessman-Blue received the Sister Marcella Leadership Award, named after the all-girls school’s first principal, Servant of Mary Sister Mary Marcella Sitzmann. Stessman-Blue is executive director of Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach in Lincoln.

A 1969 graduate, Nancy Kirchofer McCarthy, also received the Marian Award. Among other things, she was a member of the Marian board of directors and currently serves on the board of the Florence Home senior care facility in Omaha.

Mary Hendrix Schuele, class of 1982, and her husband, John Schuele, also received the Marian Award. Their service includes chairing MarianFest in 2007, and they have been active in the Teammates Mentoring Program, helping initiate it in Omaha Catholic schools.

And two longtime Marian teachers, Tom and Mary Baker, were recognized with an honorary Marian diploma for their dedication and service.
