Omaha school honors veterans

St. Wenceslaus School in Omaha marked Veterans Day (Nov. 11) with special ceremonies during the school day.

Students honored more than 100 veterans during a Nov. 9 ceremony at the school. Each veteran was escorted into the assembly by a student and received a poppy bouquet made by the school’s second graders and a handmade thank-you card from first- and second-grade students.

The event also included presentations on the meaning of each line of the Pledge of Allegiance, the playing and an explanation of “Taps” and an explanation of each branch of the military.
