Polish Heritage Society

Writing about their own Polish Catholic ancestors and the religious customs they brought to the United States, four eighth-graders of Polish descent each won $1,000 scholarships to an Omaha-area Catholic high school of their choice in an essay contest sponsored by the Polish Heritage Society of Nebraska.

The winners, their elementary schools and high schools they plan to attend this fall (all Omaha unless noted):

Hayden Hadford, St. Patrick School in Elkhorn, to Creighton Preparatory School; Sophia Grayce Grabowski, St. Stephen the Martyr School, to V.J. and Angela Skutt Catholic High School; Jane Krueger, Mary Our Queen School, to attend Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart; and Bailey Emsick, Our Lady of Lourdes School, to attend Roncalli Catholic High School
