Principals kiss goat for school fundraiser

The students called their bluff.

Principal William Kelly and Assistant Principal Tiffany Howard promised to kiss a goat if students at St. James/Seton School in Omaha raised $1,000 more than last year in raffle tickets for the school’s annual SOAR fundraising dinner.

The students raised $3,000 more, helping the school raise more than $69,000 at the Nov. 19 dinner at Creighton Preparatory School in Omaha.

Kelly said he and Howard weren’t sure the students would make the goal. But as the total drew closer to $1,000, they found a goat – owned by the mother of second-grade teacher Ariel Grinnell.

And Dec. 15, Kelly and Howard made good on their pledge, kissing the goat at an all-school assembly.
