Pro-life leader to keynote event

A nationally-renowned author, educator and pro-life leader will headline the Thomas More Society’s eighth annual fundraising banquet Oct. 19 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Omaha.

Hadley Arkes, the main architect behind federal protection passed in 2002 for infants born during failed abortions, will be the keynote speaker and receive the group’s Defender of Life Award. A professor emeritus at Amherst College in Massachusetts, Arkes also is director of the James Wilson Institute on Natural Rights and the American Founding in Washington, D.C.

The event, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of the public interest law firm that supports life, family and religious liberty issues, also will feature co-founder, president and chief counsel, Thomas Brejcha. The evening begins with a social hour at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. Cost is $75 per person or $600 for a table of eight.
