Project Rachel gets schools’ help
Using free dress days, bake sales and special collections, students from 14 high schools in the archdiocese helped raise nearly $6,500 this year for Project Rachel, a program of spiritual and emotional healing for people impacted by abortion.
The schools’ checks topped last year’s $4,585 and were presented April 18 to Archbishop George J. Lucas and Tom Venzor, associate director of pro-life and the family at the Nebraska Catholic Conference.
"I commend and thank all of the schools who participated in this effort to support Project Rachel," the archbishop said. "Their efforts and generosity will help women and men experience God’s mercy and healing."
Participating high schools: Creighton Preparatory, Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, Marian, Mercy, Roncalli Catholic, V.J. and Angela Skutt Catholic, all Omaha; and Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School, Bellevue; Norfolk Catholic, Norfolk; Archbishop Bergan Catholic, Fremont; Holy Family, Lindsay; Mount Michael Benedictine near Elkhorn; Pope John XXIII, Elgin; St. Francis, Humphrey; and Scotus Central Catholic, Columbus.
