Rosary rally draws faithful to Monroe

More than a dozen people prayed the rosary at the American Legion Hall in Monroe Oct. 15 as part of national rosary rallies sponsored by America Needs Fatima, which promotes the message of the 1917 Marian apparitions at Fatima, Portugal.

Similar rallies were held in Omaha, Schuyler, Columbus and Platte Center, among other Nebraska communities and thousands of other locations across the country.

"Our country is hurting, we’re in bad shape. We need prayers," said Mary Potts, a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish in Genoa who with her husband, Richard, has helped organize that region’s rosary rally since 2007.

People at the rosary rallies pray for an end to abortion, immorality and secularism, and for peace and other intentions, Potts said.

The rally in Monroe also included members of Holy Family Parish in Lindsay and St. Bonaventure Parish in Columbus, she said.
