School emphasizes driver safety

The dangers of distracted or drunken driving were presented at Marian High School in Omaha April 1, part of an emphasis the school has placed on safe driving since the death of a student in a car accident in 2007.

Representatives from the National Safety Council of Nebraska shared statistics, photos and video of deadly crashes caused by inattentive or drunken drivers.

Meredith Zielie, a junior, organized the presentation as part of her work with Future Business Leaders of America.
