Skutt honors former administrators

More than 700 supporters of V.J. and Angela Skutt Catholic High School raised more than $460,000 for student tuition assistance at its annual Angel Flight fundraiser.

During the Oct. 7 dinner and auction, the Omaha school also honored former president Patrick Slattery and admissions director Marie Williamson.

Slattery, who now is executive director of Xaverian Brothers sponsored schools in the Northeast, was appointed principal in 2004 and added the duties of president in 2005. Under his leadership, Skutt was honored with a Blue Ribbon School designation in 2013.

He also was superintendent of archdiocesan Catholic schools from 2013 to 2017.

Williamson was the school’s first admissions director, serving 18 years. She had a hand in creating the school’s brand, including helping select the school mascot, colors and fight song. She also helped craft longstanding school traditions, including Hawktober, Under the Lights and HawkFest.
