Students perform works of mercy

Visiting the sick, feeding the hungry and honoring the dead were among works of mercy celebrated recently by students at St. Cecilia School in Omaha.

First-graders sang songs to residents of Via Christe Assisted Living, second-graders collected food for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry, both in Omaha, and sixth-graders made spiritual bouquet cards to comfort people grieving the death of a loved one. Every student through eighth grade participated, and guest speakers helped, talking with third-graders about clothing the needy and fifth-graders about visiting the imprisoned.
