Members of the eighth-grade St. Pius X/St. Leo volleyball team join other volunteers who gathered canned goods for the needy at an Aug. 20 tournament in Omaha.

Volleyball tournament occasion for giving

An eighth-grade volleyball tournament Aug. 20 in Omaha became an occasion for giving to others in need.

Players from St. Pius X/St. Leo, St. James/Seton, St. Robert Bellarmine and St. Thomas More schools in Omaha, and St. Gerald in Ralston, with help from their parents, took part in friendly competition to collect the most canned goods for the St. Pius X Food Pantry.

The St. Pius X/St. Leo gold team won with more than 160 items collected.

This school year’s St. Pius X/St. Leo confirmation students – the Discipleship Group – helped move the more than 500 items to the food pantry.
