After hearing for years that we would someday receive a new edition of the Roman Missal, we now have received word that the Missal will be in use in all of our parishes on a certain date. At the beginning of Advent 2011 - 15 months from now - the prayers spoken and heard at Mass will be those of the English translation of the third edition of the Roman Missal.
Our participation in the Mass is at the heart of Catholic life. Through the eucharistic liturgy we are conformed more closely, as individuals and as a community, to the saving mystery of the Lord's death and resurrection. So we know instinctively that whatever may affect the proper celebration of the eucharistic liturgy is important.
