Miss Nebraska USA still visiting schools
Micaela Johnson, this year's Miss Nebraska USA, has several weeks before she has to give up her title in January. During that time she wants to continue visiting many of the Archdiocese of Omaha's Catholic schools to talk about her faith and living a healthy life.
A Marian High School graduate, Johnson grew up in Omaha, and currently attends the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she is studying broadcasting and communication.
Johnson, a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, said she enjoys visiting with students to spread the word about health and fitness.
"Children are our future," she said. "Just coming in and being able to show them that this is where I've come from and with my morals and my values and my faith behind me, this is where I've gone. Just to show them that anything is possible if they just put their mind to something and follow through and persevere."
A former Dallas Cowboy cheerleader, Johnson encourages young women ages 13 to 26 to compete in the Miss Nebraska USA pageant.
