New Roncalli Catholic leadership named
Roncalli Catholic High School will have two new leaders effective July 1, according to an announcement April 29 by the Archdiocese of Omaha.
Jeffrey Dempsey and Chad Holtz will succeed Father Lloyd Gnirk as president and principal of the Omaha school. Father Gnirk will serve as president emeritus. Father Gnirk said Dempsey and Holtz's experience will benefit the mission of Roncalli.
"Both men have a wealth of experience and energy, which will help Roncalli achieve its financial and educational goals now and for the future," he said in a news release.
Dempsey's career positions include the director of development at the University of Nebraska; associate vice president of development at Creighton Prep in Omaha; and director of philanthropy at Creighton University in Omaha.
Holtz has been the assistant principal at Roncalli since 2005 and the dean of students since 2001. As assistant principal, he managed the school's academic programs and day-to-day operations.
Father Gnirk will remain as pastor of St. John Parish in Valley. He will also assist Roncalli's new leadership team.
"Father Gnirk has fostered a solid financial and educational foundation by spearheading an ambitious capital campaign and cultivating a strong student and alumni base," said Msgr. James Gilg, superintendent of Catholic Schools in the archdiocese. "I am confident the new leadership team will ensure these efforts will continue to reap benefits for the school."
